Things We Still Don't Know

Emily's cousin is here, helping us out. It is a lot of fun. We're getting the apartment prepped for the new one. We're done with baby classes and have most of the necessities. This week we get our car seat checked out.

My brother shares a funny story from his almost-5 year old. We've been giving her updates, and she recently told him, "So we know when the baby will arrive, and we know it will be a boy. The one thing we still don't know is whether he will be black or white..."

To live with a child's sense of possibilities...

love the comment from your niece! priceless!
As for getting ready, if you've figured out the carseat, feeding and clothing and diapering are all you really need to know. For feeding, if you are planning on breastfeeding, I recommend you (well, Emily really but you too) do some reading ahead of time - and find someone who is local who has breastfed before and can help figure out problems. It's not hard (says the woman who has been doing it daily for 4 + years now) but figuring out the practical details when you are sleep-deprived and emotionally spent follow birth can be difficult.
Clothes and diapers are not difficult. Just change him quickly - or be ready for lots of "showers"...
And, you can do this. You have multiple graduate degrees between the two of you. Parenthood, while challenging at times, is not that hard at first (mentally). Feed him, change him, love him - everything else will work out.
